Run for Office

Running For Office

We appreciate your willingness to run for office and help change the political landscape in America and in our home state of Indiana. The Libertarian Party of Indiana is seeking engaged and fully committed candidates at the state and federal level for the 2024 election cycle. Voters are seeking an alternative to our current political system, better candidates than the incumbents, and we think that Libertarian candidates like you are just what they are looking for. Start your campaign journey today.

A Message From The State Chair

Dear Fellow Libertarian,

I believe that it has never been more important than this current era of politics to run as many candidates that will proudly represent the foundational principles of our republic. This is the year for us to make the case to Hoosier voters that the Libertarian Party is the only reasonable solution in this radical political world. In talking to our friends, family, and co-workers, we want to ensure that voters have the desire, and the opportunity to vote and mark their ballots for Libertarian political candidates next November.

The old two-party system has failed to uphold the public trust, and it is time for the voting public to restore it. Our Libertarian candidates are citizens just like you who run small, yet effective, campaigns. They are working toward a better life for their families, friends, and communities.

I look forward to discussing this opportunity with you. I am available anytime via email ( or by phone (317-920-1994). Thank you for your continued support of liberty in Indiana.

Evan McMahon, Chair, Libertarian Party of Indiana.

Are you ready to make a difference by running for office?

Here is what you need to do next:

  1. Ensure that you are a member of the Libertarian Party so that you can run on our ticket. You can join here.
  2. Notify our State headquarters of your interest in running by filling out the online form.  A Libertarian Party official will then follow up with you to discuss possible races in your community or the state and help you through the process.

In the meantime, you can download all the forms you will need at the Indiana Secretary of State Website.

There Are Many Ways to Run for Office

Yellow table image with a description of a fully committed candidate profile: file paperwork, have website and active social media, have a campaign team, make frequent public and media appearances, conduct serious fundraising- $10,000 to $200,000, be willing to canvas entire districts. You will be running a high-visibility campaign that will recruit volunteers, grows the Libertarian Party and maximizes your votes. Expect to give 20-40 dedicated hours per week.
Want to be involved but not run for office?

If you are not personally interested in running, please consider volunteering on another candidate’s campaign as a campaign manager or as a worker bee. Libertarian candidates are no different than other campaigners: they need many hands to succeed.

They often need individuals to help with organizing events, volunteers, communications, graphic design, and social media. Can you help one of our candidates?

Donate your treasure if you can’t donate your time

The Libertarian Party of Indiana needs your financial support now more than ever. We cannot effect the change we want to see without your help. Recruiting viable candidates and supporting them takes serious time and resources. Please help us offset these costs by gifting a one-time donation, or by joining and increasing your monthly sustaining 1994 Society contribution by $10 per month.
